Replaced Components
The 2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 is built with the following suspension components:
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Air Shocks (x2)- These shocks feature an air bladder, known commonly as an air bag, which is controlled electronically by the suspension's computer system.
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Coil Springs (x4)- These coil springs look almost exactly the same as the ones used in standard coilover (passive) suspensions. However, they are tuned and rated to work specifically with your Suburban's stock active suspension. If you decide to convert to standard passive suspension, you will need to replace these with coils which are rated for that system.
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Torsion Bar- This adjustable horizontal bar is located at the frontend of your Suburban. It holds the front end of the vehicle off of the ground.
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Shock Absorbers (x2)- These shock absorbers are metal tubes which are connected to the each wheel of your Chevy. They dampen the ride and reduce wear and tear on the car caused by rough road surfaces.
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Air Lines- These hoses connect your Suburban's air compressor to to the air bags, carrying pressurized air into the air bags to inflate the system.
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Solenoids (x4)- These plastic components join the electrical and mechanical components of your Suburban's suspension toits control module. They regulate the air pressure in each adjacent air spring. As they get older, they will inevitably begin to leak. This will put extra stress on the compressor as it tries to keep the system inflated, leading to early failure.
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Compressor- The compressor on your Chevrolet generates pressurized air mechanically and pushes it through the air hoses and into the air struts. When other components in the air suspension system start to leak or fail, it is usually the compressor that tries to compensate. This will cause it to overwork and significantly reduce its lifetime. It is one your Suburban's most expensive suspension components to repair or replace.
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Dryer Assembly- Moisture is one of the most common causes of damage to an air suspension. Your GMC uses a dryer to keep moisture from building up inside the system. This component should ideally be replaced whenever the compressor is replaced or in need of significant repair.
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Suspension Control Module- This small computer monitors the Suburban's overall suspension health in addition to managing the functions of that system. It interprets signals sent by the ride height sensors to ensure that the car maintains the correct ride height at every point.
2007-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 O-rings- These rubber washers ensure that there are good seals wherever the air lines connect to each other and the other components. They are inexpensive to buy and can crack or rot quite early into the lifetime of an air suspension, so it is advisable to replace them whenever the air suspension is serviced.

Suspension Failure Signs
Is there a warning light on your dash telling you to check your air suspension? When towing or hauling does your Suburban slowly sink and not recover till you've parked? These are just some of the symptoms of a leaking and failing air suspension. If your 2007-2014 Chevrolet Suburban can no longer maintain its proper ride height, handles poorly, or the compressor runs constantly you probably have a leak. Air suspensions components are delicate and harsh road conditions break down the rubber components and delicate electronics. The air shocks leak and put stress on other parts of the suspension system which must work perfectly together to be effective. If you've noticed any of these common symptoms you should get your Suburban checked immediately before total suspension failure occurs.

OEM Replacement Cost
  • Electronic Struts ($329/Strut) +
  • Rear Air Shocks ($396/Rear Shocks) +
  • Coil Spring ($86/Coil Spring) +
  • Compressor and Dryer Assembly ($270)
  • = TOTAL: Over $1,320 (and that doesn't even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).
We have compared the costs of repairing your active suspension system vs. using our suspension conversion kit. The price of our passive suspension conversion kit is so low; most of our customers with a failed Chevrolet Suburban air suspension system make the switch over to a conversion kit right away. The kit eliminates your dependency on every air part working properly and in sync, which is expensive to repair and inefficient. Our kit includes two premium coil springs, two shocks for the rear, and two pre-assembled front strut assemblies, also with high quality springs. The kit is installed in about one hour per wheel and comes with detailed installation instructions so the direct replacement goes on smoothly and easily. If you have any questions during installation our tech support team is available to answer your questions. Our customer reviews prove just how much time, frustration, and money people like you have saved by converting to non-air suspension.
