Replaced Components
The 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL is built with the following suspension components: 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Air Struts (x2)- conventional struts that use a rubber air spring instead of a traditional steel coil spring. The air springs, commonly referred to as air bags, are made of plastic and rubber and use pressurized air to support the weight of the vehicle. Cracks develop in the rubber due to normal wear and tear and this is the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. All air struts all go bad at about the same rate. If one is leaking, the other one is too. For a proper repair, all of them need to be replaced at the same time. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor (air suspension) to the air struts which carry pressurized air to the air bags components in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Solenoids (x2)- This vehicle is equipped with 4 solenoids. These plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module. The solenoids are responsible for regulating the air pressure in each air spring or air shock. Solenoids are a small piece of the suspension system but they play a big role in how well it functions. If a solenoid is not working properly, it will cause the vehicle to be unlevel and, in turn, cause the compressor to burn out. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Compressor- This vehicle is equipped with one air suspension compressor. The compressor is responsible for pumping up the air springs and shocks. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor is forced to run continuously to try and keep the air springs inflated. After a couple of days of running non-stop, the compressor will burn itself out. Replacing the compressor is a timely and expensive project to undertake. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Dryer Assembly- This vehicle is equipped with a dryer assembly. The dryer assembly is responsible for getting moisture out of the air lines. Once the air suspension parts start to leak, moisture will build up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension components from the inside out. The dryer must be replaced whenever the compressor is replaced to prevent further damage. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL Suspension Control Module- This vehicle is equipped with a suspension control module. This module is the brain of the suspension system and it reads all of the signals that are being sent by the height sensors and determines if the vehicle needs to be raised or lowered. 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.

Suspension Failure Signs
Your 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL might be suffering from failed or leaking air suspension. Know the common signs so that you can properly diagnose it, if and when it occurs. There are a couple things you want to look for. The most obvious sign of suspension total failure is a loss of ride height in the rear of the vehicle -- normally from three to five inches lower than the front.  If there is an illuminated suspension warning message on the instrument panel, your Expedition suspension may have already gone bad. Don’t let it go on for too long without repair- other components will wear out. Check the air suspension compressor- if it is no longer working, or running too long (longer than 15-20 seconds maximum), then this has already begun. Any visible cracks on your rear air springs have been caused by dry rot and will require replacement, too.  Some cracks in the rubber of the air springs may not be visible until they are removed from the vehicle.

OEM Replacement Cost
'+ Air Struts ($820/each) + Compressor and Dryer Assembly ($720) = TOTAL: Over $2,360(and that doesnt even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

Aftermarket Replacement Cost
'+ Rear Air Strut Assemblies ($799/pair) + Compressor ($200) + Dryer Assembly ($40.00) = TOTAL: Over $1,000 (and that still doesn't include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).
Our customers like to tell us they made the change over from air to non-air suspension conversion kit because of the low price. But they remain loyal to Strutmasters because of the high-quality parts we use and the support we offer during and after the sale. Our conversion system eliminates the complicated electrical components of your faulty 2007-2013 Ford Expedition EL and replaces it with two coil over strut assemblies that are ready to get you working again. Compared to dealer replacement, our suspension conversion kit is more affordable and reliable than the OE parts. The conversion system even comes with our 1-year warranty. The units are a direct replacement and install in about one hour per wheel, with no modifications are required. The detailed instructions include a procedure to shut off the suspension warning light. If you need more help with your repair, watch our exclusive YouTube channel videos to see experts performing real life suspension conversions. And lastly, our customers love that our in-house technicians are available to answer all of your Ford Expedition suspension questions.
