Replaced Components
The 2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade is built with the following suspension components:
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade Air/Magnetic Shocks (x2)- shocks that contain an air bladder or magnets whose dampening capabilities is controlled by the suspension control module.
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade Coil Springs (x4)- Coil springs hold the vehicle up but be careful, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system, so when you change air shocks to passive shocks, then you will need a different rated coil spring that works well with the new type of shocks.
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade Torsion Bar- Adjustable horizontal bar on the front of the vehicle that holds the vehicle off the ground torsion bar.
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade Shock Absorbers (x2)- a metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle.
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade Air Lines- tubes that run from a compressor (air suspension) to the air struts which carry pressurized air to the air bags components in order to adjust the height of the vehicle, respectively.
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade Solenoids (x4)- usually L-shaped, these plastic components connect the electrical connection and lines of suspension components to the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor.
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade Compressor- creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade Dryer Assembly- used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build-up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage.
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade Suspension Control Module- a computer which is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle's correct ride height.
2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade O-rings- Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system.
Suspension Failure Signs
If you suspect your Cadillac Escalade is not reaching and maintaining its appropriate ride height, it may be suffering from a failed or leaking air suspension system. You want to diagnose it before it is too late. Once total failure sets in, all the other vehicle components will wear out. The most noticeable sign is a sudden uneven height difference between different sides of the Escalade. Usually, there was a sagging on one end while the other end remains inflated (rear vs front). The Escalade may lean from one side to the other. Have you ever seen a car on the road that looks like it's squatting down in the rear end? Bingo- that's a bad suspension. If your air compressor has stopped working or is very loud and noisy, it may be running too often- another sign of a failed suspension. Lastly, look for an illuminated suspension warning light on the instrument panel. A repair or replacement may be necessary.
OEM Replacement Cost
- Struts ($329/Strut) +
- Rear Shocks ($396/Rear Shocks) +
- Coil Spring ($86/Coil Spring) +
- Compressor and Dryer Assembly ($270)
- = TOTAL: Over $1,320 (and that doesnt even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).
The assorted parts that make up the air suspension system on the Cadillac Escalade can be very expensive to repair at the dealer. The problem is, if only one component stops working properly and in sync, the entire system is off. We have seen customers spend a fortune bringing their Escalade into the dealer whenever a part needed to be fixed. As The Suspension Experts, we knew there had to be a better solution. Our air to non-air suspension conversion kit is an affordable direct replacement option that delivers high quality and convenience. This kit, for your 2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade, includes two coil springs, two shocks for the rear end, and two pre-assembled front strut assemblies with springs. DIYers love that the kit is installed in about one hour per wheel and without frustration, thanks to our detailed installation instructions that come with. The cost difference between choosing an air vs. a non-air suspension system is huge- in fact, that's what convinces most of our customers to switch to our kit.
